Fill the blank: Travel

1.  If I didn't have to work anymore I would stay at home, start a family, make lots of pretty things, learn how to quilt  and spend more time with my friends & family.

2.  My favorite thing about a vacation is taking the time to relax and to see new things. I also love being able to make decisions on the day- do I feel like going on an adventure or chilling out today?

3.  When packing for a trip I make lists, overpack and then reduce. I'm getting better- I always used to overpack. I probably still do, but less than I used to!

4.  If I could go on a road trip with anyone (dead OR alive) I would choose Tobesbecause he wouldn't like it if I took someone else (and I love him!)  and we would go all around Australia, into the Northern Territory. We'd spend some nights under the stars and others in fancy hotels. :)

5.  My top 3 absolute travel essentials are lip balm, my camera and my journal.

6.  Vacations are lots of fun!

7.  On vacation you must always take lots of photos! And you also need to focus on the fun that you're having- not counting down the minutes that you have left!

This is why I teach

Chloe is a dear, special girl who I taught last year. As a teacher, you're not meant to have favourites, but there are always a few kids that make an extra impact on you. Chloe is one of them.
She handed me this note in the corridor after school today with a shy smile.
It's when I get little notes like that from the kids that I realise why I teach.
I love to watch kids learn.
I love to watch them grapple with new and tricky concepts and then *finally* 'get it'.
I love it when they truly enjoy coming to school everyday, and knowing that the culture we create in our classroom influences that.
I love knowing that the kids feel loved and supported enough by me to miss me the following year, even when they have a fabulous teacher and are completely happy at school.

Phew...

A very quick one ladies and gents as the light really needs to go out in a few minutes so I can snuggle down for the night with Tobes and Sandy.

Here's my weekend in a nutshell...
Friday night- sleepover in school hall... hard floor + anxious boy = very little sleep.
Saturday- preparing house for sale... rearranging furniture, cleaning the house, gardening, early night (thanks James, Rach and Carolyn for your amazing help!)
Sunday- more cleaning, box shuffling, paining back fence and back landing (thanks for your help again C!), packing boxes, dinner out with some of Toby's high school friends after Kelv launched his CD tonight. Check it out here. Sad that I missed the church service tonight. :(

I would usually say that I'm going to work for a rest but I don't know that I can say that this week- the school magazine deadline is looming... lots of work to do!
