project gratitude: 0211

February 11: Today I am grateful for naps... 5 hours worth of them! It's amazing the difference that sleep will make to the way you feel.

For the sound of rain on a tin roof.
For the chance to kick back and relax in cool weather with Toby and Tilly for a few days.

February 8: Today I am grateful for a comfortably warm and sunny afternoon. It let me hang out the washing on the line and take some photos of the little lady on while she slept in the shade. Even I got to take in some Vitamin D and read some blogs on the iphone. 45mins of peace and quiet after fun at mothers group and an afternoon where she refused to be anything but held!

Matilda @ 1 month

I can't believe that our little girl turned 1 month old on Monday!
It seems like just yesterday that she was born.
So new... squarking and gurgling as she made her way into the world.
Into our lives.
Now here she is.
Familiar.
Much loved.
Growing and changing before our eyes.

At 1 month Matilda...

  • weighs 4805grams / 10lb 9.25oz (85th percentile)
  • is 55.5cm long (85th percentile)
  • has a head circumference of 37cm (~60th percentile)
  • Still fits into her newborn/0000 clothes and newborn nappies... but is starting to need the length of 000 in full onsies
  • Has lots of nick names: Tilly, Tilly Bear, Tiddly, Tiddles, Little Miss, Till Dogs (don't like this one!), Blossom, Princess, Tills, Tilster, Sweet One, T.D, T.B, Boofa, Smiley Pants
  • Lifts her head and holds it still without wobbling
  • Snuggles into your neck when having a cuddle
  • Feeds 1&1/2 - 3 hourly
  • Sleeps around 7 hours a night- usually broken into one 3&1/2hr chunk and a few 1&1/2-2hr chunks
  • Recognises mum and dad's voice and turns her head to find it
  • Stops crying most quickly when cuddled by mum or dad
  • Is getting chubbier! She doesn't look so long now that she has some thighs and rolls on her!
  • Looks at mum and dad from her bassinete and follows with her eyes
  • Doesn't mind travelling in the car
  • Looks around when walking in the stroller
  • Makes lots of eye contact
  • Has lost more of the 'peach fuzz' on her arms.
  • Make funny 'eh' sounds when she is being burped
  • Has clear skin and a clear umbilical cord site
  • Grunts and squeaks at funny times
  • Is told everyday how beautiful she is and how much we love her
  • Loves the bath
  • Enjoys tummy time. In the last week she has learned to lift her head and turn her head from side to side
  • Has a gift of explosive poos! Several times she has 'painted the floor' during a nappy change.
  • Cries when there's a problem but usually that's all
  • Smiles and is beginning to giggle at times, but usually when finishing a feed.
  • Attracts lots of comments of facebook!

I decided when we were pregnant that I wanted to take a photo of Tilly each month in the laundry basket so that we could see her growth. I'm so glad that we're doing this. Look at how much she has grown in only one month!

Her head! Her cheeks! Her length and width!
But at the same time, there are similarities. Her hair still falls mainly the same. She still holds her arms legs in similar positions.

What will she look like at 2 months? Wait and see!

We love you Tilly Bear. xoxo
Note: I will write her birth story out one day and post it here.

February 7: Today, 3 years in from Black Saturday , I am grateful for cool weather, and for the lives of those impacted by the fires. Those of the survivors who experienced the blaze and lost everything. I remember those who didn't make it. And i remember all of their loved ones who have loved and supported them through it all.

Tilly is 1 month!

I can't believe this little one has been in our lives for a whole month. We love her so much!

A post is on the way about that first month. It's been a big one!

February 6: Today I am grateful for a walk around the lake and a play with Nicole, Ethan and Kaitlyn. I saw Tilly with new eyes... she really is small still! :) E & K have grown so much and look amazing.

Also glad for some sleep this morning.

For mum's help at the supermarket.

For a roast chicken that worked splendidly. :)

February 5: Today I am grateful for cuddling cousins. Warms my heart!

Cooper and Ty are so good with Tilly and so gentle with her. It was Cooper's turn for a hold first and then Ty got to have his first Tilly cuddle. He loves 'bays' (babies) didn't want to hand her back. Cooper reminds Ty that he needs to be very gentle and Ty calls out to Tim, Rach and Pa to look at the faces that she makes. Ty also wanted LOTS of photos taken. These are my favourites.

P.S. Who would know that Coops wanted a boy cousin?! :)
