Dinner in the city

So Tobes and I did something last night that does not happen often for us. We went out. For dinner. To a nice restaurant. We're both pretty frugal and like to watch the purse-strings, so an $180 Ultimate Dinner for Two is not usually in our repertoire.

Lucky for us, I taught a sweet boy last year who's parents have links with the wonderful Bluestone.  We enjoyed a 3 course meal and our complimentary glass of french Champagne on arrival (it's ok- I just had a sip).

Please excuse sub-par quality iphone photos of our delish meals!
Entree/ me: Roast Quail stuffed with chestnuts, him: duck cassoulet
Main/ him: duck breast on wilted cos with confit duck spring-roll, me: eye fillet steak on veg. stack
Dessert/ shared dessert plate- chocolate cognac mousse, green apple sorbet, passion-fruit pavlova, creme brulee .
Such a special treat! We unanimously decided that the entrees were the highlight of the night. Yum!

Fill the blank: Summer

I'm linking up again with another mumma to be, Lauren, with fill in the blank Friday!

1.   My plans this summer include enjoying around a month time off before Baguette arrives then getting to know the newest little member of the family. :) Time off with Tobes will be great too.

2.  The best summer I ever had was probably 2008 when Tobes and I first got together. Exciting first dates and first kisses and hanging out with both friends and family. :)

3.
Summer is
time out, ice-cream, feeling happy and free, BBQ's, family time at the beach and late night walks in the dusk light.

4.  My favorite summer food is tropical fruits and berries- pineapple, mangoes, peaches & nectarines, raspberries and strawberries warm from the sun.  Ooo and thai salads and sorbet and  BBQ's with fresh salads. Yum!

5.  The best way to quench a summer thirst is with a G&T or a cola Slurpee!

6.  My summer uniform consists of skirts and tank tops or dresses. No shorts for me!

7.  The best thing about summer is that it is the start of a new year with new opportunities. That everyone is in holiday mode with more time to spend together. It's the best!

2+1=3

That's right! :) Toby and I are very excited to announce that we are pregnant and expecting our first child early next year.

We are so thrilled and excited about what this next chapter of our life will bring. This little one is an incredible and much wanted gift to us. We are so grateful to God that, through His grace, He has chosen to bless us in this way.

We are yet to have an ultrasound (that will happen in the weeks to come), but we were able to hear the heartbeat earlier this week, and it was amazing! So reassuring to hear that fast, steady beat after 14 weeks of waiting. There really is someone in there, making me feel sick! ;)

This blog has always been about my life and what's in it, so I can't wait to share this next  time of our lives here too.

Are you addicted too? Let me know that you're there so we can follow each other!

Back in the land of blogging.

I'm back! I've had a bit of a (let's be honest... a long) break and I'll explain that a little more in the coming days. There's so much that I want to post here and document!

Our trip was so wonderful. Once in a lifetime. There were so many amazing sights that we got to see, places we explored and foods we ate. I'm still getting used to the Winter- to colder days, dark nights and mornings. But Spring must surely be on the way (I can wish!).

School holidays are here now (yay!) and I am delighting in the time off. Time to sit and rest. Time to scrapbook and to catch up with friends. And to blog!

See you soon!
