Shhh

Can you keep a secret?

I think she loves me the most.

She smiles biggest for me.

She stops crying quickest for me.

She falls asleep on me and wants to stay there.

She looks around the room for me when I'm not holding her.

She holds my hand and strokes my face when I am.

She seeks me out and tries to make me smile.

I'm trying to savour this stage and enjoy it as much as I can. Although it can be exhausting to be a babies 'one of choice'. I know that in the blink of an eye it will be all about someone else.

The fun and freedom of dad.
The play of friends.

I'll be 'just mum'... steadfast, there whenever she needs me, loving her from a distance. But for now, it's her and I.

And it's pretty fantastic.

May 18- Today I am grateful that Tilly slept lots and that I got to have a snooze too! Wowzers! :)

In other news today, Matilda pulled the apple I was eating today to her mouth and sucked it... 3 times!!!

Fill the Blank Friday

It's been a long while between blanks!

1. Something that is very near and dear to my heart is capturing photos of my family and friends.

2. Life is good cause to celebrate .

3. The most fun I ever had was riding the roddelbahn in Germany with Tobes.

4. True friends are the ones who are always there, both during the good and the bad times. They celebrate with you and take care of you. They can be hard to find!

5. Something that makes me terribly happy is when Tilly gives me big smiles- especially when she's doing it to get my attention. :)

6. A good way to spend a sunny day is with friends at a picnic in a quiet, pretty place.

7. My favorite celebratory food is icecream.

May 17: Today I am grateful for our new, friendly, lovely neighbours. :)

Now...

This is my view now.

The significance is that I do not have a baby on me.

She is in her bed after falling asleep in the car and transferring successfully without waking to her cot! This is the first time this has happened in ages.

It couldn't have happened on a better day. I have a cold that's set in leaving me with snuffles and a headache.

Poor little Poppet is a bit sneezy too. Sleep will do her good!

May 16: Today I am grateful for tissues!
And the girls coming over tonight, even if a certain little lady kept me away from them.

P.S. hilarious Siri moment today...

project gratitude: 0514

May 14-.Today I am grateful that Tobes could stay home and come with me for Tilly's 4 month vaccinations. Tilly screamed less for the actual needles today but screamed for a good 40mins when she woke from a sleep. Panadol, feeds and cuddles helped. In fact, one of the nurses came into the room after her needles as she was feeding and said with a smile, "thank god for boobs". Today I couldn't agree more!

I was also lucky enough to Skype Sare and Leah today and go for a walk with Steph.

Mary 13- Today I am grateful for my mum and my daughter.

Then and Now

Today was my first Mother's Day. I'll blog more about that another day. :)

After lunch I decided to try and reenact a favourite photo of mine from my past.

It was taken in 1981 in my late grandparents garden, of mum and I on our first Mother's Day.

We braved the freezing temperature outside (around 10 degrees... maybe i'm a little soft!) and ventured into our front garden. We donned Tilly in the same outfit that I wore on my first Mother's Day. The dress and cardigan were knitted by my late grandma- Tilly's great-grandma which made it extra special. Mum got a little emotional seeing her dressed as I was.

The colours are different in my shot and Tilly is a month older than I was at the same time, but I love that we shot them. I love that I'm starting to see more and more of me in Tilly.  I love that mum kept so many of my old clothes and that Tilly gets to wear them too. And I'm glad that I remembered to take these today.

Then and now...
