Celebrating early

We bought this very special bottle last year just after our wedding to drink on our first anniversary. It's good!

Already?!?!

I was at the shops yesterday and look what I found there already... September 23rd!

But then I went to the fruit and veg market and look what I found- spring in a bucket! :)

It's a gorgeous time of the year!
Enjoy your day!

Things that make my day instantly better

Inspired my this post over at Martha Writes, I've decided to create my own list of things that make my day instantly better.

  • Hugs, kisses, cuddles and snuggles
  • Having the exact change when paying for something at the shops
  • Receiving mail... any type... email, little notes, especially surprise letters in the snail mail!
  • counting down the days until Christmas
  • smiling at strangers
  • taking photos of anything
  • spending some time with the laptop and my favourite blogs
  • hearing someone say they love me
  • loud praise and worship music
  • someone else cooking me a meal
  • a great coffee
  • going to bed with fresh sheets
  • sunny days
  • being welcomed at the door by my sweet cat, Sandy
  • the unconditional love of children
  • surprise little gifts from loved ones
  • being Auntie Beck to Coops and Ty and an 'honorary' one to several other sweeties!
  • sitting with old friends, when words aren't necessary
  • when kids at school 'get it' and learn something new
  • trying a new recipe and it being fantastic (especially if it was easy!)
  • bunches of flowers
  • chatting with far away friends for free on Skype
  • laughing until I cry
  • the simple life
  • decluttering
  • a hot shower when you've come in cold
  • the dentist telling you that there's nothing to be done! :)
  • giving or receiving a compliment
  • the smell of fresh baked bread
  • a great summer thunder storm
  • holidays
  • reading in a hammock
  • winning a prize
  • driving with the windows wide open, singing loudly to the radio
  • walking through a beautiful garden and taking in the natural beauty
  • sniffing fressias
  • waking up for the first time and realising that you've still got lots more time to sleep
  • poaching an egg and it coming out perfectly runny :)
  • baby animals
  • going for a great horse ride- galloping on the beach
  • scrapbooking
  • being creative
I'm sure that there are more things to add, but this is just the start.

What makes your day better?.

I played, I survived

source
NOT US!

Well, tonight was my first game of netball with the team of girls from school. We all teach in different areas of the school- either Prep, Juniors (grade 1/2), Middles (grade 3/4) or Seniors (grade 5/6). It's a great way that we can hang out socially and get some exercise too.

Tonight I stepped out onto the court feeling a little apprehensive (ok... maybe a bit more than *little*... I had Toby come for moral support!). I think that it's been around 11 years since I've played netball! As a kid, I used to play every Saturday, from 11 years of age to around 20, and I loved it. But 11 years is a long time!

I used to be a shooter, occasionally stepping into defense if we needed the height. In our team we have 2 awesome shooters in Ellen and Caroline, so my height is required in Goal Keeper. It suits me and my lack of fitness!

Mind you, I think it will take me a while to get used to the modified rules and court (or cage) of indoor netball, complete with it's springy nets. Who knew that you couldn't touch the nets? Or that you can rebound the ball off them to pass? Or that you can shoot from outside the goal circle for 2 points? These little changes had me baffled and confused at first, but by the second half I was starting to remember what was going on. I managed to rebound a few balls and make a few interceptions. I certainly wasn't an MVP, but I did have a surprisingly good time and I'm looking forward to playing next week. My hip flexors and knees though may just have to catch up with my enthusiasm. Come to think of it, my overall fitness probably should get on board, but this consistent exercise should help with that.

Oh... and if you were wondering...

we won!

Fill the blank: random

1. When i get a day to myself, I like to relax with my laptop and the tv, catching up on some Oprah and Dr Phil! I also like to get the girls over for some scrapping. :)

2. High School was great. I loved my friends and I was always very involved in church too. I was house captain 3 times in high school and loved it.

3. A little dream i have is to go to Europe next year and to Fiji (or the like) with some friends the year after.

4. A big dream i have is to start oyr family, stop working outside the home and live happily ever after in our home being all orgainsed in cuteness. I love my job and I know I will miss it, but having a family is something I believe I was made for.

5. If i could drive any car, I guess it would be a convertible of sone sort so that I could enjoy drives in the country in style! That said, I'm really not a car person.

6. A time that i felt really & truly beautiful was on our wedding day.

7. Tomorrow I will be going to the dentist, then recovering at home!
